Cover Design Process

You'll consult directly with us. We will guide you through the cover design process and create a beautiful professional cover for your book. We will capture your input and facilitate any requested changes. Throughout the design process, you'll be able to collaborate, provide feedback and make important decisions about your book cover's look and feel. Here's how the process works:
  1. Provide Bowman Publishing with a synopsis of your book and a description of any visual ideas for your cover.
  2. Discuss and articulate your book cover ideas via phone consultation and written communication with us.
  3. Review the cover options created by our experienced book cover designer. One option will reflect your input; the second option will reflect the professional designer's recommendation, based on your book's genre and storyline.
  4. Select the cover concept that best matches your vision and provide any additional feedback (i.e. image, color or font changes). You'll have the opportunity to provide a second round of feedback to your design team. For each round, we'll present one revised option reflecting your input, as well as a second option based on our experienced book designer's recommendations.
  5. Select the cover finish for your book: Glossy or Matte. A glossy finish shines, reflecting light well. It has a polished feel to the hands. A matte finish reflects less light and is easier to view in bright conditions. It has a textured feel to the hands.
  6. Approve your final book cover design-including the back cover text, author photo and barcode for publication.
IMPORTANT: We cannot complete your cover until we have your book's final page count, as the number of pages determines your book's spine width.

Book Changes Policy After Final Approval

Do you need to modify or make changes to any part of your book after the final approval? Don't worry! You are allowed to at any time. If you need to make additional changes, you can purchase a changes service. The fee to have our design team to make any changes/updates is $100 for first hour or less of work; each additional non-prorated hour is a fee of $35.

NOTE: Kindle eBook files are not automatically updated when changes are made to paperback titles. If you purchased a Kindle Conversion service and you want to update your eBook files, you will need to purchase a new Kindle Reconversion service.

Common Question:

Can I provide my own image or graphics for my book cover?

Yes, we can create a book cover using your image or graphics, as long as what you provide meets our resolution standard of 300 DPI and satisfies our Content Guidelines.
